Tip Top Tubs - Frequently Asked Questions

Why have you reduced the pack size of some of your products?

Behind these changes was the reality that the favourites flavours had, price-wise, been 'carrying' the rewards flavours for a while. In our view the changes we have made are the fairest way to correct that. If all the pack sizes had stayed the same, the price of all products including favourites would have gone up, and Tip Top didn’t think that was fair on New Zealand families.

These changes also reflect what consumers have been telling us over the past year - that they are buying plainer flavours like Vanilla and Hokey Pokey for everyday use and more indulgent flavours like Jelly Tip and Gone Fishing for occasional family treats.

What products will come in the 1.6L tub?

4 current products will be launched in the 1.6L tub (Goody Goody Gum Drops, Jelly Tip, Monkey Business & Gone Fishin). This leaves 9 flavours in the Everyday range including all 5 of Tip Top's biggest selling flavours (Vanilla, French Vanilla, Boysenberry, Hokey Pokey & Cookies'n Cream).

The 1.6L Reward range will also include 2 new products - Mint Cookie Smash & Brandy Snap. Our new range of Creamy Yoghurt Ice Creams, will also come in a 1.6L tub.

What other changes have you made to the product?

We have made no other changes to the product. Our award-wining formulation and ingredients are exactly the same, and all the products are still made in our Mt Wellington plant with fresh NZ cream. We have also made considerable investment in our factory to allow us to improve the packaging design and provide a tamper evident seal for added product safety.

Tip Top is committed to producing the great tasting ice cream New Zealanders love. While some manufactures have offset the higher costs off inclusion based products by reformulating their ice cream products to replace dairy ingredients with cheaper alternatives, like vegetable oil, Tip Top is committed to making New Zealand's best ice cream using only the best ingredients.

Why are Cookies'n Cream, Orange Choc Chip and Hokey Pokey still in 2L tubs? Those products are full of yummy bits too!

While these products do have yummy stuff in them too, consumers have told us that these flavours are seen as Everyday. They tend to eat these flavours more often than the products that they see as more treat-like eg. Goody Goody Gum Drops and Jelly Tip.
